Agnès Desarthe was awarded the Prix du Livre Inter in 1996 for her novel Un secret sans importance (L’Olivier), the Marcel Pagnol Prize for Le remplaçant (L’Olivier, 2009), the Prix Renaudot des Lycéens for Dans la nuit brune (L'Olivier, 2010) and the Prix Littéraire Le Monde for Ce coeur changeant (L’Olivier, 2005). Four of her novels are translated into English: Five Photos of My Wife (Flamingo, 2001), shortlisted for the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize, Good Intentions (Flamingo, 2002), Chez Moi (Portobello Books, 2009) and The Foundling (Portobello Books, 2013). Her latest book, Le roi René (Odile Jacob, 2016), is a portrait of prodigy pianist René Urtreger. She also translates Loïs Lowry, Anne Fine, Cynthia Ozick, Jay McInerney, Virginia Woolf and, this year, Hisham Matar.
