Alex Preston is a British author and journalist. He appears regularly on BBC television and radio. He writes for The Telegraph, Harper's Bazaar and Town & Country Magazine as well as monthly fiction reviews for the Observer. He is a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Kent. His debut novel This Bleeding City (Faber, 2010), about the financial crisis, won Spear’s Best First Novel prize and the Edinburgh International Book Festival Reader’s First Novel Award. His latest book, As Kingfishers Catch Fire (Corsair, July 2017), is an illustrated and visually stunning exploration of birds in literature, from Ovid to Ted Hughes.
